Michael Fisher has been an Alzpal and a driving force within Wicklow Dementia Support for many years.

When Michael was nominated for Community Hero, the Bray People highlighted his work as an Alzpal:

‘He has embraced this role with patience, decency and care, recognising the difficult and isolating situation that many people and their families face.’

Here are Michael’s own words on his role as an Alzpal:

‘The sheer joy on their faces when you ring the bell makes it very much worthwhile. My current pal sits in the window watching for me.!
Of course it works both ways, there is a huge sense of satisfaction when you’re out with your Alzpal doing ‘stuff’ that they want to see or do, but can’t normally, on their own.’
